The novel deals in depth with the world of a tour guide in Luxor, his relationship with tourists, and the information he gives them that they seek and want to hear. He tells them about the past and gives them a view of it from a present that still bears features of the ancient, mysterious and rich past. The novel also tells the West's view of our country, whether it came to us as a tourist or followed us from afar. It also tells the features of the struggle for money and influence in mainland Egypt, with a murder that occurs to reveal other events behind it.
