Zusatztext
On August 1, 2013, former CIA official Edward Snowden was presented with documents from the Russian Federal Migration Service, which allowed him to leave the transit zone of Sheremetyevo airport. However, the U.S. authorities expressed their extreme dissatisfaction with the asylum that Snowden had been granted by the Russian leadership. Washington is still waiting for Moscow to extradite the fugitive CIA and NSA whistleblower. Snowden thanked the Russian authorities for providing him with temporary asylum. Snowden, who has been granted temporary asylum in Russia, has stated that there is a threat to his life, but he will not be intimidated. In his homeland, Snowden is charged with violating two articles of the U.S. Espy Act of 1917 - the unauthorized disclosure of classified information affecting national defense and the deliberate transfer of data from U.S. intelligence to individuals who have no right to receive such information. In addition, he is charged with theft of U.S. government property. On each of the charges, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
