This book not only provides an overview of Carl Vine and his Piano Sonata No.1, but bridges the gap to expose the Australian Identity within Vines first piano sonata. These revealing Australian markers are then systematically discussed at length by examining the typical Australian treatment of musical elements in relation to Vines compositional method in the sonata, supported by musical examples.
