The energy demands are increasing alarmingly and which has to be met by the existing fossil fuel resources but they are under depletion. Also, they affect the environment adversely so light should be thrown upon the use of alternative fuels to combat the energy demand and safeguard the environment. The problem of emission from diesel engines can be reduced by modification of fuel, modification of engine operation and change in the engine design.
