This collection of 15 stories is about tango. Stories that take place in Manhattan and in other parts of the world: Paris, Buenos Aires, Cuba, Spain, Liverpool, The Black Sea, Chechnya, Japan. The lyrics of the tangos tell a love story that only lasts three minutes, the time of each tango. Why do the characters of these stories dance with obsession in close embraces with another person as if they were embraces of a last goodbye? Each dance is unique because each dancer goes in search of something that he does not know, something that he lost a long time ago or that he wants to recover, forget forever or dream. Tango is the only dance in the world in which two people walk embraced. Because tango is the lament of a single person, even in this 21st century. All these stories come together in an intra-textual fabric because some characters reappear in other stories or a situation is connected in another context of another story. The motive for crime that occurs in one story will be solved in a later story. A character who lived a long exile and was once a bandoneon player will meet again with tango in a first world city. Artificial intelligence was used to translate this book.

Javier Campos è nato a Santiago del Cile nel 1947. Ha ricevuto il primo premio Letras de Oro nel 1990. Nel 1998 è stato finalista al premio Casa de las Americas. Nel 2002 ha vinto il Premio Internazionale "Juan Rulfo" di Radio France International. È professore di letteratura latinoamericana e spagnolo all'Università dei Gesuiti di Fairfield, USA.
