This book is not intended to answer the question of what liturgy "is". Rather, it is to be considered as an event and a happening. Who does what in it, what place does teaching or art have in it, and what moment does it form in our lives? We are at a historically critical point with regard to our worship services, because the liturgy, at least in the Protestant Church, is as if it were free to change its form. From the crawling service to the German-language Chrysostom liturgy everything seems to be appropriate. In the situation of a rapid cultural development and the inevitable and close encounter of different languages, different religions, denominations and cultural codes, flexibility seems necessary. Martin Grahl, nato nel 1958, ha studiato teologia protestante allo Sprachenkonvikt di Berlino e ha conseguito il dottorato in teologia sistematica all'Università di Rostock nel 2001. È autore di numerose pubblicazioni, soprattutto nel campo della storia della Chiesa, tra cui l'allegoria medievale. Martin Grahl è un pastore dell'isola di Fehmarn.
