Zusatztext
Women for centuries have undergone gender discrimination under the pretext of patriarchy which is engraved in the culture and tradition of some societies. It is important to highlight that this condition has been encoded by the male gender to dominate and manipulate women. The aim of this book is to unravel the ambiguous patriarchy which may be vague or invisible to some women by exposing it through fiction which is usually a reflection of society. The long-term aim is to change peoples gender ideology to a more egalitarian one that regards women as equal human beings who have the same rights as men.The book reveals the truth behind patriarchy as seen in examples of Indonesian, Arab and Western fiction. It critically analyses the shaping of womens gender ideology and patriarchys nurturing techniques. Finally, it presents a feminist short story written by the author. This book might be useful to literature instructors and students in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities who are interested in patriarchy and gender studies.
