The UK is made up of the countries England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.The first peoples of the UK were the Picts who inhabited Briton around 10,000 B.C. 200 years later; they were driven north to Scotland by the Celts who promptly took over. The Romans then conquered in 45 A.D. and ruled for several more centuries. From around 600 A.D. to around 900 A. D. several peoples known as Angles, Saxons, Jutes began to populate and govern the area. They became known as Anglo-Saxons. Then between 900 and 1400 came the conquering Vikings, then Danish, and finally the Normans. The book gives you the information about the history, geographical position, climate, fauna, flora, natural resouces, political system, economics, traditions & customs, famous people, social life, cultural life, entertainment (music, theatre, cinema) of Great Britain.The UK has four separate educational and healthcare systems because of both being devolved to each separate country.
