Amitav Ghoshs contribution to Indian English Fiction gives full scope to meditate upon social scenario around which is a great thing on the part of an author. The important concepts as Histroy and Nationalism are the major issues of postcolonial literatures especially in Indian context. Ghoshs novels reflect these issues prominently. Amitav Ghosh being an important figure in contemporary Indian English fiction one must read his crucial contribution to literature. The authors have dexterously attempted to analyze Ghoshs views and presented it methodologically. It is also helpful to a fresher in Indian English Literature to get ideas about critical terminologies like History and Nationalism which have been systematically presented in introductory chapter. It also proposes the life and brief idea about Ghoshs literary contribution in a well constructed manner.Further, the analytical reading of his novels like The Shadow Lines, The Calcutta Chromosome, The Glass Palace and The Hungry Tide have been done systematically in the light of two critical concepts such as History and Nationalism and it will consolidate the understanding of fresh researchers, academicians and students.

Presently he is Senate member of KBC NMU Jalgoan. Under his supervision 6 students have been awarded Ph.D.
