Adaptive Channel Equalizer provides efficient, robust, reliable and successful communication of data or message through imperfect channels which is one of the major triumphs of engineering technology. The key advantage of soft computing approach to design channel equalizer and for system identification task is the ease of implementation, both in terms of coding and parameter selection. The contributions of various landmark publications on hard computing as well as soft computing based adaptive filter, especially for channel equalization and identification task have been presented in this book. The book contains a detailed survey of literature on the usage of structured stochastic soft computing algorithms that are capable of quickly and effectively adapting the coefficients of a wide variety of FIR and nonlinear structures as compared to classical adaptive algorithms. However, no single algorithm is sufficient to solve all types of optimization problem. Aptness of a particular algorithm depends on specific application.

Dr Rashmi Sinha received her B.Sc (Engineering), M.Sc (Engineering)& Ph.D degree from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, India. In 1997, she joined the Department of Electronic and Communication Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur, India, as an Assistant Professor and become Associate Professor in 2007. Presently she is the Head of Department.
