New Testament scholars usually interpret the relationship between Philemon and Onesimus as the relationship between master and slave. But through interpretation in postcolonial perspective, it is known that the relationship between them is the relationship between master and slave, as well as the relationship between the brothers. Efforts undertaken by the runaway Onesimus was his attempts to escape the shackles of slavery. Onesimus realized that Paul was a very respected by Philemon, his master at the same time. Paul was willing to help since the petition Onesimus. For that Onesimus is the actual actors in the writing and sending this letter to Philemon. Of course the story in this letter to see a happy ending, Philemon accept Onesimus back as a brother, and no longer as a slave.
