Recently, the presence of new emerging pollutant such as drugs, phthalates and pesticides in wastewater has gained significant concerns from researchers. Due to its poorly understood impact towards the environment and human health, numerous studies have been conducted to investigate this type of pollutants. Although, several waste water treatments have been utilized to cope with this issue, the operating cost is one of the limitation in advanced oxidation process of waste water treatment. This project aims to evaluate the economic performance of photo-Fenton, photocatalyst, and electro oxidation processes in treating pharmaceutical wastewater.

Zulfan Adi Putra is a senior lecturer and process consultant at the Chemical Engineering Department of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. His experiences cover process synthesis and design, process modeling and simulation, and process optimization. He did wastewater treatment modeling works with Dr Mohd Dzul Hakim and Ms Nur Aqilah Husna.
