Sesame is a crop suitable for the dry climate with a relatively high temperature, and it is a short day crop that promotes flowering. Except for the moisture required for germination, the plant is strong enough to tolerate low water content. Sesame is vulnerable to dehydration, and even short-term dehydration is harmful. In the case of Korea, the demand for cultivation area of the crops in the paddy field is increasing. At the same time, rainfall is concentrated in the summer season, which is the primary growth period of the plant, and the precipitation amount of the specific period is increased according to the abnormal weather, and the frequency of the waterlogging is rising. Protein is an essential molecule that participates in enzymes that act as catalysts for various chemical reactions in cells, hormones with regulatory functions, in vivo reactions and energy metabolism. These proteins are very diverse in different kinds of plants and also in various organs in plants, and the expression pattern varies depending on the growth stage of the plant and the environment in which the plant is located.

Jung is a Ph.D. Fellow in the Tohoku University, Japan. He received his Bachelor and MS from Chungbuk National University, South Korea. He has been involved in the stress physiology and molecular characterization in plants. His work leads to an understanding of proteome investigation in response to water-logging stress.
