In the visual arts, it is omnipresent: the line. Navigating between constructive precision and subjective gesture, it performs endless tasks. It defines form and organizes the surface; it shapes contours and structures, and creates separation and connection. It traces space and time, generates illusion, and captures the imaginary. Taking Paul Klees poetic metaphor of a line embarking on an impressive journey across the page as a point of departure, the exhibition explores how the line breaks free from its support, enters three-dimensional space, and transforms in both expression and materiality.
