Zusatztext
The publication, which accompanies the exhibition of the same name at the Baukunstarchiv NRW, showcases works by Düsseldorf-based artist couple Renata Jaworska and Marcus Schwier. In Mapping Perspectives, the works of painter and illustrator Jaworska and photographer Schwier engage in a dialogue about perspective, space, and cartographic representation. The focus is on the view from abovethe bird's-eye perspective, in which urban landscapes, spaces of movement, and spaces of identity are illuminated from a distanced, superordinate viewpoint. In an installation tailored to the atrium of the Baukunstarchiv, the two artists present their works in a way that not only plays with the space, but also consciously integrates it into the perception. The works unfold on the floor and, viewed from a distance, from above, open up a quiet, almost contemplative view of the relationship between body, space, and perspective. This gives rise not only to new images, but also to new questions: How do we map our world? How do perspectives influence our perception? And how can boundaries be experienced geographically, emotionally, and artistically?
