Zusatztext
A view into the book you can find under "http://verlag.sandstein.de/reader/98-379_DanielBuren" Daniel Buren (*1938, Boulogne-Billancourt) defies labeling. Whether as a concept artist or minimalist, he pursues his own site-specific approach. Since the late 1960s, Burens work has addressed the framework and limits set up by museums or galleries and rarely questioned until then. Chemnitz is already in possession of a highly visible work by Daniel Buren: a 302-meter-high chimney, designed in 2012/13. This catalog provides detailed documentation of the project. In March 2018, the artist had an exhibition at Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz entitled Erhellender Stoff: Gewebe aus Glasfaser. Arbeit in loco (Illuminating Material: Fabrics made of glass fiber. Work in loco). In a field of contrasting expectations, where art simultaneously serves as lighting, the viewer is incited to take a new perspective on exhibits and exhibition space alike. Also included in the volume is an introduction to Burens artistic oeuvre and an interview, which both explore the career and artistic ideas of one of contemporary arts most important representatives.
