This volume brings together more than seventy artists from the circle around the Stuttgart and Karlsruhe art academies and illuminates their complex and exciting work with examples from the holdings of the Würth Collection. Artists from the circle around the Stuttgart and Karlsruhe art academies have had a decisive influence not only on the art of the German southwest, but also on the contemporary German art scene. Big names such as Georg Baselitz, HAP Grieshaber and Markus Lüpertz are among them, as are Hans Baschang, Stephan Balkenhol, Emil Wachter, Wolfgang Bier, Sabine Hoffmann, Thomas Lenk, Ben Willikens, Lambert Maria Wintersberger and many others. Published to accompany the exhibition at Kunsthalle Würth from February 2004.
