This humble effort deals with the factors affecting the working efficiency of Agriculture Field Staff of Agricultural department. The data was collected from 100 respondents including District Officer, Deputy District Officers and Field Assistants of Agricultural Extension Department of Quetta and Mastung in Balochistan. The study reveals that transfers made on political ground, unfair distribution of rewards by the Executive District Officers, District Officers, late promotion, poor follow-up of the T&V system by the department, delayed payment to the respondents, non-availability of fertilizer, seeds and pesticides for the demonstration plots were the main factors affecting the efficiency of the department.Some recommendations were highlighted in the light of study like on time promotion, timely payment of traveling allowance and daily allowance (T.A &D.A), equivalence of the staff with the other department staff in terms of status, refresher courses, and trainings and also discouragement of political involvement in the transfers of the staff in the department

Abdul Rashid Khilji is completing BSc(Hons) and MSc(Hons) in Agriculture Rural Sociology from Sind Agriculture university Tando jam and At present work as Agriculture officer in Agri.Economics and marketing Extension. His field of interest are Rural sociology,social Anthropology, sustainable Agriculture and Afghan Nomads.
