The Institute for Manufacturing Technologies of Ceramic components and Composites is proud to arrange the 14th European Interregional Conference on Ceramics (CIEC14) and to welcome the European scientists and experts on ceramics in Stuttgart. Continuing a tradition that started in 1988, the CIEC14 aims to promote the collaboration between young researchers and to support the formation of international networks of experts in science and industry. The conference will consist of 6 invited lectures, 29 oral presentations as well as poster contributions. Keynote lectures will be held byFrank Kern (Universität Stuttgart), Marc Anglada (Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya), Jérôme Chevalier (INSA Lyon), Martin Bache (Swansea University), Umberto Anselmi-Tamburini (Univerisitát di Pavia) and last but not least Paolo Nanni. Rainer Gadow, director of the organizing institute, will open the conference and introduce the honorable guest Peter Friedrich, Minister for the Bundesrat (Europe and International Affairs) who will emphasize the European importance of the conference and welcome the scientific community. A single session format will allow detailed discussion of the relevant issues. In addition, a lively poster session will be encouraged, aimed particularly at young researchers who may be attending their first international conference. The conference will cover all aspects of processing, structural characterisation, properties and industrial applications in the following 6 sessions: Mechanical Properties Processing Bioceramics Coatings Composites Functional Ceramics
