Because of its compelling philosophical contents, in fact "Journey to Macaronia" is not just a "Kessler for kids" but also a book for kids from one to ninety-two. It tells about how old man Schwahnsinn tantalizes the boys Mex, Mox, and Flex, known as the Xs, with his stories about the full moon which is really a pancake, and about the mysterious time-door which exists between the tick and the tock of his ancient grandfather clock. It is through this time-door that the adventurous boys make their way to Macaronia. Everything there is so very noodly that homesickness soon overcomes them, but they connot figure out a way to get back home. What will happen to them?

Wolfgang Kessler, Jahrgang 1949, studierte Theologie, Erziehungswissenschaften und lateinamerikanische Literatur. Er leitet heute die Sprachenschule "Linguaropa" für Japaner im Raum Düsseldorf, wo sein besonderes Interesse der interkulturellen Kommunikation gilt. Kessler erregte bereits zur Frankfurter Buchmesse 2004 mit dem Kurzgeschichtenband "Seiltänze, 33 Stories" Aufsehen (ISBN 3-8267-5544-8). Zur Leipziger Buchmesse im Frühjahr 2005 erschien sein Kinderbuch "Reise nach Makkaronien" (ISBN 3-8334-2246-7), in dem der alte Schwahnsinn so wunderbar vom Vollmond und vom Geheimnis der Zeit zu erzählen weiß. Einflüsse Kafkas und des magischen Realismus auf Kessler sind unverkennbar und tragen mit zu der Unwiderstehlichkeit seiner ästhetischen Texte bei. Das gilt auch für seinen Roman "Insel im Licht" (ISBN 3-8334-2768-X).
