This heart chamber of Bavarian late Baroque has enjoyed worldwide fame since 1746 and is one of Munich's outstanding sights. It dates back to a private initiative by the court sculptor Egid Quirin Asam, who was able to enlist his brother Cosmas Damian for the monumental ceiling fresco.
