Lucien F. Trueb (28.06.1934-28.01.2023) grew up in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. He studied chemistry at the ETH in Zurich where he graduated in physical chemistry. He then moved to the United States where he was involved in metallurgical research and teaching for eleven years. He then returned to Switzerland where he was responsible for the science-technology pages of Neue Zürcher Zeitung in Zurich. In this function he wrote thousands of articles on a very broad range of subjects. Since 1997 he worked as a freelance writer specialized in materials science and modern technologies.
