Zusatztext
At the heart of the Museum Ludwig lies its extensive permanent collection, which boasts several distinctions: It contains the largest collection of Pop Art outside the United States, the worlds third-largest Picasso collection, major works of German Expressionism and New Objectivity, and some seventy thousand photographs chronicling the evolution of the medium from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Together, these form one of the most important collections of twentieth- and twenty-first-century art anywhere in the world. This selection of 146 artworks from the collection was guided by the museums efforts to expand the collection to include previously overlooked artists, namely those from non-European countries and women, who remain largely underrepresented in the museums holdings. The Museum Ludwig collection is continuously evolving, and this publication highlights specific aspects of it in its current form.
