Innovation that holds the potential for technological and economic breakthrough triggers entry, growth, and survival of firms. Despite the fact that research and practice emphasize the crucial role of such radical innovation, a majority of companies tends to commercialize rather path-dependent, incremental innovations. In this dissertation, I show how different sources of knowledge as well as cognitive biases shape the creation and evaluation of radical product ideas.
