André Butzer is one of todays most distinctive and influential painters. For the first time, this precious volume reveals a little-known side of his uvre: 120 never-seen-before works on paper from 2001 until 2019. New and high-spirited scholarship sheds light upon his predominant themes and motives. Following his breakthrough works in the early 2000s, throughout the years, one is able to witness the artistic verve and intimacy, which bring forth his uncompromising mature style. 'On paper', Butzer says, 'such things have more ease like a note, they are more sporadic, incidental, faster'.
