Zusatztext

Seminar paper from the year 2017 in the subject Didactics for the subject English - Literature, Works, grade: 1,0, University of Marburg (Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik), language: English, abstract: In the term paper at hand, Goethes famous poem "Prometheus" as well as Lord Byrons same-titled ode will be taken into consideration. Both poetic works will be analysed and interpreted with regard to form, content, theme(s) and language, but in the course of examination priority is given to the motif of rebellion. Having investigated both poems, I shall compare them with each other in order to scrutinise what they have in common and in which points the treatments of the Prometheus myth differ from one another. At the end of this paper, it will have become clear that despite some formal and stylistic similarities Goethes and Byrons lyric texts maximally contrast with each other, primarily when it comes to the question of how to rebel against (divine) subjugation.
