Jürgen Lewandowski war nach dem Studium der Germanistik und Anglistik und Lehrjahren bei "auto, motor und sport" vom Herbst 1977 an Ressortleiter Technik bei der Zeitschrift "hobby", bevor er von 1979 bis Ende 2000 als Ressortleiter "Auto und Verkehr" zur Süddeutschen Zeitung nach München ging. Seitdem arbeitet er als Autor und Korrespondent für mehrere Publikationen weltweit. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Beobachter und Chronist der heutigen Automobilszene beschäftigt er sich seit Jahrzehnten mit der Automobilhistorie, wobei ihm seine engen Kontakte zu Automobil museen und Sammlern weltweit helfen. Im Laufe der vergangenen 30 Jahre hat Jürgen Lewandowski - dessen Bibliothek mittlerweile mehr als 4500 Bücher zum Thema Auto umfasst - rund 90 Bücher zu den Themen Geschichte des Automobils und Entwicklung von neuen Baureihen initiiert, geschrieben und redaktionell betreut. Jürgen Lewandowski lebt in München.
