For the first time samples of the ecclesiastic writing are considered as part of Christian Church in the literary criticism according to the monograph Early Christian Liturgy and Georgian Hagiography; this fact considerably increases their literary value and grants wider significance and conveys deep theological content for readers. Emergence of the Georgian ecclesiastical writings is related to the early epoch of spreading of Christianity. Therefore, canonic that was typical for the Christian Church of certain specific period should be taken into account during the research. Such Canonic had been also considered in hagiographical works. As it is known, the hagiographical works had always been created for reading in the churches. Praising of a saint, martyr used to conduct for strengthening belief of believers. At first, Christianity was a persecuted religion with small number of believers. Authors of hagiographic works aimed at strengthening their belief. Due to this, the main character of the hagiographical work was to be an ideal person for the rest of the Christians.

Autorenportrait

I entered the faculty of philology at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in 1989 and graduated in 1995. In 2002 I became PhD. My thesis was "The Martyrdom of St Gobron by Stephane of Tbeti". I'm the author of 2 monographs, 2 textbooks and 51 scientific articles. I'm the editor of 8 books. I take part in scientific projects & conferences.
