The theme of bad governance and its cataclysmic effect is not new in African fiction. In this direction, the desire for a fiction that is progressive, revolutionary and effective becomes imperative in African literary scholarship. This book attempts an ideological reading of Vincent Egbusons Womandela bearing in mind the fact that ideology is in two dimensions: a body of ideas and means by which a class perpetrates itself in power infinitum. The project is partitioned into four parts: chapter one, two, three and four. Each chapter has its thematic thrust. The project concludes that Vincent Egbuson is a committed writer who strives hard to see to it that the African novel captures life as it is. In doing that, he proffers bourgeois feminism. Thus, Egbuson is a bourgeois writer as his sympathy lies with the ruling class to the detriment of the hoi polloi and the proletariat. This kind of representation has the power of frustrating revolutionary imperatives in the African novel and sociology.
