Microfinance is arguably one of the most effective techniques for poverty alleviation in developing countries. The general objective of this book is to evaluate performance of microfinance in selected institutions in Kenya namely, Kenya Rural Enterprise Bank (K-Rep Bank) and Kenya Women Finance Trust (KWFT) during 2010-2011. This book is significant in promoting quality and improved microfinance services to the microfinance clients in Kenya. One of the chief findings of this book is that microfinance has been a success in Kenya but with challenges. The success of microfinance is seen in the growth and profitability of the microfinance institutions. It is suggested in this book that there is a need to design and provide Shariah compliant microfinance programmes in Kenya.

Abulrahman Mohamed MWINYI is a researcher from Kenya. He has obtained his Master degree in Islamic finance 2012.Dr. Mohamed Sharif BASHIR is an associate professor of Economics and Islamic finance at Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University,Saudi Arabia.His research covers international trade, development economics and Islamic finance.
