The book targets to present a research on literary works by the great poet Nizami Ganjavi. It contains a comparative historical analysis based on Oriental poetry, and aims to provide a broad view into Nizami's world of philosophy. Five poems included in Khamsa as well as the poet's lyrical works are analysed in terms of content and idea. Meanwhile, the author aims to compare the literary heritage of other Renaissance poets and writers with that of Nizami. The concept of woman ideal, which has been the source of inspiration for a number of writers and poets, and found its perfect reflection in Nizami Ganjavis literary creation is analysed in many aspects. The books encompasses a wide artistic view of the age, deals with distinct issues, and features the life styles of various strata of society existing in the East in the Middle Ages.

Shabnam Mammadova is currently PhD student on Literary Criticism and Senior Teacher of English at Ganja State University, Azerbaijan. M.A. in Philology from Ganja State University with honors (2011). Her research field relates to the analysis of Victorian writers. Meanwhile, she carries out comparative analysis of Azerbaijan and English literature.
