Ambient Networks Mobility Management

Taking a snapshot of todays communication resources including cellular networks, fixed networks and a variety of other wireless networks, we recognise that resources are often present, but rarely available to the user in a coordinated and trivial-to-use fashion. The main cause is that existing access technologies are not harmonized enough, due to commercial reasons and todays rather early stage in the era of mobile communications. The Ambient Networks project aspires to cope with these issues, within the vision of future mobile communications based on heterogeneity. Let's see how.

Alberto Periccioli born March 27, 1976, in Grosseto (Italy). He graduated from the University of Pisa as Telecommunication Engineer, after working as researcher and software developer for Siemens SPA, under the international project Ambient Networks, the subject of this manuscript. Currently he is working as IT project leader and software engineer.
