 The paper is headlined Germany, France and Great Britain in the EU- Guarantors for a stable European future? It covers the question whether the integration of the European states still is a worthy aim to try achieving. After a short introduction of the basic history of the European Union and its institutions the topic is dealt with by focussing on the economically and politically most powerful Germany, France and Great Britain as representatives for the member states. The interests in the EU and the actions taken for the community by those states will show that integration has proven to meet the needs of the country and is likely to be enhanced in the future. Great Britain builds an exception in some areas though. It becomes clear, that the isle has the biggest problems of the three in ceding powers of sovereignity to the union.


Zusammenfassung

 Die vorliegende Arbeit trägt den Namen Deutschland, Frankreich und Großbritannien in der EU- Garanten für eine stabile europäische Zukunft? Sie geht der Frage nach, ob die Integration der europäischen Staaten für ihre Mitgliedsländer nach wie vor ein erstrebenswertes Ziel bildet. Nach einem kurzen Rückblick auf die bisherige Verlaufsgeschichte der EU und einer Vorstellung deren Institutionen wird diese Thematik, stellvertretend durch die drei nach wirtschaftlicher und politischer Macht führenden Mitglieder Deutschland, Frankreich und Großbritannien behandelt. Dabei wird durch Aufzeigen der bisher gebrachten Leistungen für die Gemeinschaft und die dahinter stehenden Interessen der Länder, sowie ihre bisherigen symbolischen und konkreten Vorteile, die Frage positiv beantwortet. Es wird außerdem deutlich, daß sich Großbritannien nach wie vor in einer gewissen Außenseiterposition bezüglich des Integrationswillens befindet.
