This unique multilingual dictionary covers terms regularly used in landscape and urban planning, and in environmental protection. The revised and updated dictionary has been extended to include some 10,500 terms each in American and British English, Spanish, French, and German. The approach is encyclopedic: definitions are given, together with cross references to generic and specific terms. Often, the definitions clarify differing interpretations of the term at the planning, legal or technical levels. Where a term does not exist in one or another language, the Encyclopedic Dictionary offers helpful suggestions for translation. Detailed indices in Spanish, French and German are referenced numerically to the English order, allowing the user to quickly locate a word in any of the languages. The Encyclopedic Dictionary of Landscape and Urban Planning will benefit landscape architects, urban planners, conservationists, and environmentalists in planning practices, local, regional and national authorities, research and educational institutes.
