This book offers a collection of essays on the connections between Latin America and Asia. It discusses different aspects of the regions entanglements from the 16th to the 21st century paying special attention to the Pacific as a space of globalization. A central question is in how far regional, national, and global dimensions have interacted and impacted upon the historical development of the continent. Este libro ofrece una colección de ensayos sobre las conexiones entre América Latina y Asia. Discute aspectos diferentes sobre los entrelazamientos regionales desde el siglo XVI hasta el siglo XXI, dedicando especial atención al Pacífico como un espacio de globalización. La pregunta central indaga hasta qué grado las dimensiones regionales, nacionales y globales han interactuado e impactado sobre el desarrollo histórico del continente.

Stefan Rinke , geb. 1965, lehrt seit 2005 als Professor für Geschichte Lateinamerikas am Lateinamerika-Institut und am Friedrich-Meinecke-Institut der Freien Universität Berlin. Er gilt als ausgewiesener Kenner der Geschichte des amerikanischen Kontinents.
