Autorenportrait

Xiao Lin, Founder and CEO of Botree Recycling Technologies, China, professor level senior engineer. Working in critical battery metals separation and purification technologies, revolutionary solution for EV and energy storage battery recycling and materials regeneration. Served clients cover >60% Chinese Li-ion battery recycling output capacity, >45% Global market. Finished 50+ research and commercial projects, granted prizes like national technology invention and national key practical technologies of environmental protection. Published 40 papers, been authorized 30+ patents, participated in the formulation of international and national standards. Member of National Technical Committee SAC/TC294 on Discarded or Disused Chemicals Disposal. Steering committee member of Global battery alliance (GBA) battery passport. Ilai Bendavid is a Cambridge-trained specialist in environmental policy, energy systems, and sustainable mobility, with professional experience across industry, international organizations, and European institutions. He holds an MPhil in Planning, Growth and Regeneration from the University of Cambridge, a BSc in Business and Management from Queen Mary University of London, and graduate-level training in environmental, energy and transport economics at AgroParisTech. His work has addressed European power-market resilience, natural-gas crisis-response strategies, and urban mobility behaviour, including published work on e-scooter trip purposes and modal substitution carried out with the University of Cambridge, Transport for London and Tier Mobility. At the European Commission (DG RTD), he contributed to the valorisation of Horizon Europe projects and supported cooperation between regional networks, cities, and industrial stakeholders in the fields of future mobility and urban innovation. His current interests center on battery-recycling policy, circular-economy regulation, the financing of circular-economy infrastructure, and the development of digital systems such as the Battery Passport, which he advances through his role in government affairs and business development at Botree Recycling Technologies. Bin Wu is Director of Sustainability Consulting at Botree Recycling Technologies, holding a master?s degree in material science from KU Leuven. As an expert in Product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), he has accumulated years of experience in product carbon footprint research at leading international manufacturing enterprises, with solid expertise in carbon footprint modeling and analysis. Currently, he is deeply engaged in research, analysis of carbon footprint, recycled content, regulation compliance across the lithium battery and new energy industry chains, and has participated in the compilation and review of numerous domestic and international carbon footprint standards, including participating in the expert review of the European Union Joint Research Centre (JRC)-led Battery Regulation carbon footprint calculation rules (CFB-EV for electric vehicle batteries, CFB-INB for industrial batteries), contributing to the formulation of automobile life cycle assessment regulations under the United Nations World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (UN/WP.29), the Global Battery Alliance (GBA) battery greenhouse gas (GHG) calculation rulebook, and the International Lithium Association (ILiA) lithium product carbon footprint guidelines. He has undertaken over 50 sustainability-related consulting projects. Shengrui Qi is a Sustainability Consultant at Botree Recycling Technologies, China, holding a master?s degree in environmental engineering. His main research interests include Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the lithium-ion battery value chain, EU circular economy regulations, and sustainability compliance. He serves as a reviewer for the carbon footprint standard developed by the International Lithium Association and has participated in drafting China?s national standards for power battery carbon footprint and labeling. Xue Wang, PhD, is Principal Analyst of Botree Cycling. She obtained her doctorate in Material Engineering from KU Leuven. Her research is focused on new metallurgical process technology and waste resource treatment technology. Responsible for the routine operations of the IEA HEV TCP Task 48 Battery Swapping, successfully organized four online workshops in 2023 focusing on battery swapping for electric two and three-wheelers, commercial vehicles, passenger EVs, as well as maritime and aviation.
