Malte Lech studied geography majoring in economic geography at Leibniz University Hannover and Aalborg University, Denmark. He was research associate at the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography at the Leibniz University Hannover from 2011 to 2012. He completed his PhD thesis on institutions, innovation and regional economic change in the electronics industry in the Chinese Pearl River Delta in 2015. <p> His focus of research is on regional innovation, industrial change and the development of emerging economies in East- and South-East Asia.
