'Following Alexander von Humboldts footsteps. A journey of discovery through the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation': Starting from Humboldt's letters in the Secret State Archives of Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, the book follows the traces of him that are still visible today in the museums and libraries of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. These traces lead to the objects and manuscripts that he brought back from America and Russia as an explorer, as well as to the art objects and scientific works that were acquired for the former Prussian museums and libraries on his recommendation.

Ingrid Männl studierte an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen Geschichte und Latein. 1987 wurde sie mit der Arbeit 'Die gelehrten Juristen in den deutschen Territorien im späten Mittelalter (1250-1440)' promoviert. Bis zu ihrer Pensionierung im März 2024 war sie als Archivoberrätin am Geheimen Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz tätig, wo sie seit Juni 2000 für die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit zuständig war.
