G.W.F. Hegel has defined philosophy as the real inner centre of all science: Philosophy generates itself as the centre of a 'circle of circles' of knowledge, at which it never looks only from the outside. The contributions presented here test Hegels claim both in relation to the philosophical system as a whole and to the individual sciences, as the centre of which philosophy should prove to be. The aim is both to understand Hegel more precisely and to think him further - also creatively.

Miguel Giusti ist Professor an der Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, an der er das Institut für Demokratie und Menschenrechte leitet und eine Forschungsgruppe zur Aktualität des Hegelschen Denkens sowie das deutsch-lateinamerikanische Netzwerk FILORED koordiniert. Er studierte Philosophie an Universitäten in Peru, Italien, Frankreich und Deutschland, wurde an der Universität Tübingen mit der Arbeit Hegels Kritik der modernen Welt promoviert und war Stipendiat der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung an den Universitäten Frankfurt am Main und Bochum. Er hat sich auf die Philosophie des deutschen Idealismus und die zeitgenössische Ethik spezialisiert, zu denen er zahlreiche Publikationen verfasst hat.
