The Professional Role of Attorneys and their Duty under Section 49a Paragraph 1 of the German Federal Lawyers' Act (BRAO) as an Instrument for Ensuring Equal Access to Justice in Law and Practice': The study focuses on the practical implementation of the professional duties of lawyers according to § 49a(1) BRAO. Despite legal requirements, there are discrepancies in practice. Statistical analyses and a conducted survey show that lawyers perceive barriers to legal aid, particularly in terms of financial and time resources. Empirical data highlight that a lack of incentives and insufficient awareness of the legal framework affect the willingness to undertake such cases. The need for structural improvements is emphasized.

Julia Lefèvre studierte Rechtswissenschaften an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen und absolvierte ihr Referendariat beim Land Hessen (2002 bis 2009). Zuvor schloss sie erfolgreich ein BWL-Studium mit Schwerpunkt Unternehmensführung ab. Zwischen 2009 und 2015 arbeitete sie in verschiedenen Positionen, darunter als Konferenzmanagerin, Referentin für Geschäftsfeldentwicklung und Rechtsanwältin bis sie von 2015 bis 2023 unter Prof. Dr. Jens Adolphsen das Institut für anwaltsorientierte Juristenausbildung an der JLU fachlich leitete. Parallel war sie als zertifizierte Mediatorin sowie Anwältin tätig. Seit 2023 leitete sie eine Abteilung für Forschungs- und Nachwuchsförderung an der Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
