'Rights Approaches to the Protection of Biological Diversity in Public International Law' Effective protection of biodiversity is today more urgent than ever. Nils Wegner explores in his work current approaches in international law that aim to mobilize individuals and groups to enforce the law and thereby make a contribution to the protection of biological diversity. Besides classical human rights approaches, the focus is on the legal positions guaranteed by the so called Aarhus Convention as well as on the legal position of indigenous and local communities in the Nagoya Protocol.

Nils Wegner hat an der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg bis 2010 Rechtswissenschaften studiert und im Anschluss an das Referendariat promoviert. An der Universität Stockholm erwarb er einen Masterabschluss im Umweltrecht. Seit 2014 ist er bei der Stiftung Umweltenergierecht in Würzburg tätig. Er hat bereits in verschiedenen Fachzeitschriften zum Umwelt- und Planungsrechts im Zusammenhang mit dem Ausbau erneuerbarer Energien publiziert. Er referiert zudem zum Thema der Energiewende.
