Zusatztext
The growth of crystals in thin PET films has been measured along with thin it- PS films to predict the possible mechanism controlling the thickness dependence on the rate of crystallisation. The structures of crystals in thin PET films and thin it-PS films have also been investigated. In thin PET films, the prediction of the possible mechanism is performed by comparing the growth of crystals in thin PET films (~1000Ao<thickness) to the thicker ones. The analysis utilising a fitting technique suggests that the thickness dependence on the rate of crystallisation in thin PET films may be due to the thickness dependence on the segmental mobility, or due to the thickness dependence on the thermodynamic driving force, or both. In thin it-PS films, the structure of crystals is dependent on the crystallisation temperature and film thickness. It is also found that the percentage of smooth surface in it-PS increase with decreasing crystallisation temperature. Further more, the banded crystals in it-PS is dependent on the crystallisation temperature and the film thickness in which the bandwidth and band spacing increasing with the increase of crystallisation temperature and film thickness.
