While this work is mostly dedicated to farmers and growers looking for soil management solutions during harsh winter seasons, it also presents information to researchers and analysts working on soil organic matter measurements. Soil particulate organic matter is a potential fertility index to measure and evaluate the contribution of hairy vetch ecotypes as winter cover crop in comparison to winter rye.

Ibrahim received his B.S. in Organic Agriculture Sciences in 2011 from Ain Shams University. Following his interests about the long-term sustainability of agriculture and food systems, he attended the Agroecology Master program at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences to earn his M.S. in 2016.
