This book discusses the ecology of mosquito larvae and their dynamic in different seasons at irrigated area, Central Sudan. Identifying the major mosquito vectors belong to Culex, Aedes and Anopheles genera, this study resulted in useful data on the ecological parameters such as: land use, land cover, turbidity, vegetation, and alga which affect the presence of larvae mosquitoes in the breeding sites. In addition identified mosquitoes were collected and important species was recorded such as: An. funestus. An. arabiensis (the important vectors of malaria in Sudan) and Ae. aegypti (this is very important vector of rift valley fever, dengue fever and yellow fever) and Culex pippins complex. The significant difference in mosquito density was observed among seasons, and highest density was recorded in rainy season. The lowest density was recorded in hot and cool dry seasons and therefore larval control.

Mr. Mostafa M. Mahgoub is currently a lecturer in the Department Medical entomology at Blue Nile institute for communicable diseases (BNNICD), Gezira University in wad madani , Sudan. He teaches various courses in Medical Entomology and vectors control. His research interest are ecology of insect, insecticide resistance and arbovirus.
