Zusatztext

The contributions contained in this book highlight novel solutions for the treatment and assessment of wood in its many forms, ranging from historical paintings, to ceiling decorations, from Syrian rooms to ancient Egyptian coffins. Technical studies of painted works are presented together with research on new methods for their monitoring and analysis. The book covers consolidation and impregnation, structural support, conservation materials, techniques, advanced documentation and analysis, as well as conservation and assessment of archeological wood. Another focus is the conservation of wood in its different contexts and the detection of biological decay using acoustics, laser scanning and x-ray technologies. These peerreviewed contributions there presented at the conference "Heritage Wood: Research & Conservation in the 21st Century", the first joint meeting of three groups of the International Council of Museums Committee for Conservation (ICOMCC): the Wood, Furniture, & Lacquer; Scientific Research; and Sculpture, Polychromy, & Architectural Decoration Working Groups.
