Whilst the number of dementia patients is rising steadily, there are significant deficiencies in regards to the treatment. Dementia is often recognised too late, or not at all, and the costs for health care and nursing are very high. An improvement of the ambulant treatment is urgently needed, especially as the German federal health care system will not be able to cope with the imminent surplus requirements.
 The book looks at the care deficiencies of the ambulant treatment of dementia sufferers in Germany and illustrates possible solutions, in order to contribute to a possible handling of the problems.

Jeanett Radisch (Dipl.-Soz.), Johanna Baumgardt (M.A.) und Elina Touil (Diplom-Gesundheitswirtin (FH)) haben während ihrer Tätigkeit als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter/innen im Kompetenztandem "Vernetzte Versorgung" des Innovations-Inkubators der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg maßgeblich an der Erstellung des Behandlungspfads mitgewirkt. Prof. Dr. Wolfram Kawohl ist Stv. Chefarzt und Leiter des Zentrums für Soziale Psychiatrie an der Psychiatrischen Universitätsklinik Zürich und Privatdozent an der Med. Fakultät der Universität Zürich. Er ist als Gastprofessor an der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg tätig. Dr. Jörn Moock (Dipl.-Soz.) verantwortet die Koordination und operative Leitung des Kompetenztandems "Vernetzte Versorgung". Prof. Dr. Wulf Rössler (Dipl.-Psych.), langjähriger Klinikdirektor und Vorsteher an der Psychiatrischen Universitätsklinik Zürich (PUK), lehrt als Seniorprofessor an der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg und an der Universität Sao Paulo.
