Zusatztext
The works collected in this volume span a period of three decades in Walter Eucken's scholarly oeuvre, from his inaugural lecture, "In Recognition of St. Simon, which he held in 1921, to the last article he prepared for a guest lecture at the London School of Economics in 1950, "This Unsuccessful Age or the Pains of Economic Progress. The theme that connects them is the perception of the present as a time of crisis and the question of where the causes of the crisis are to be seen and how their solution can be found. In dealing with this, the focus is on the debate surrounding the interpretations of the crisis and the solutions proposed by socialist theorists and the advocates of the total state. The volume also traces the development of the ordoliberal research program.
