The German Federal Constitutional Court is said to be one of the most powerful constitutional courts in the world today. Its decisions, which are collected in 141 official volumes of the "Entscheidungen des Bundesverfassungsgerichts", have influenced the political as well as the legal development of Germany since 1951. On the occasion of the 7th decade of the court's jurisdiction, this book provides an insight into 130 landmark constitutional decisions, their historical background and their importance for the development of the German constitutional system.
