The essays collected in this volume discuss the life and work of Herbert Giersch, who was President of the Institute of World Economy Kiel and a founding member of the German Council of Economic Experts. Giersch conducted research in several fields of economics contributing to the analysis of business cycles, to the debate of flexible versus fixed exchange rates, to supply side economics, to the theory of economic growth in a global economy, to regional economics and to the development of an economic and social order. Authors of this volume include Jagdish Bhagwati, Juergen B. Donges, Gerhard Fels, Bertram Schefold, Hans-Werner Sinn und Carl-Christian von Weizsäcker.
