The present volume is a collection of essays authored by colleagues and friends from all over the world, dedicated to Dieter Leipold on his seventieth birthday. Dieter Leipold's scholarly activities cover a wide range of legal issues. His main fields of research are the general part of civil law, the law of succession and, first and foremost, German, comparative and international civil procedure. Thus it is natural that the essays cover these branches of the law, and a number of them directly discuss topics which for scholars are intrinsically linked to the name of Dieter Leipold. The variety of contributions from various different countries provides proof of Dieter Leipold's high international reputation and standing.
